The path starts along the east coast of Lácar Lake, on the Seven Lakes Road (NR Nº 234).
Duration: Half noon
Distance: 19 kms
Enabled: Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring
Description tour: Chapelco Mountain
The journey is quite tiring, the way up is constant, so it is recommended to use the bicycle gear-change, in order to lighten this stretch.
You will go past the detours to Catritre and Quila Quina beaches, always going up and on pavement. The first houses of rural people appear, and at Km 11 to the left, you will see the road that comes from Arrayán viewpoint.
The ascent without pauses continues for three more kilometres to the Pil Pil viewpoint, ideal excuse to take a rest enjoying an exceptional panoramic view of the valley of the Pil Pil Stream and the surrounding hills.
One more kilometre further, you will find the junction with the Provincial Road Nº 19, which is not paved and that leads to the Ski Center.
The way to Chapelco Mountain
The journey continues requiring effort, but it is really worth doing it, since you will have the chance to see thawing streams coming down from the mountains and the Lanín volcano begins to show above the mountain range.
From Chapelco Ski Center's parking lot it starts the way down along the same road, which is the same stretch used to descent during the winter season. The way is full of bends, passing through the spot "Puente Blanco" (White Bridge), where members of the Mapuche community live.
After leaving behind this population, you will patiently face 2 short slopes, the first one located between the hills of a narrow low-lying field, where a small stream runs, and the second one starts at the detour on the left, that leads to the National Road Nº 234. From the Arrayán viewpoint, it begings a dizzing descent that will lead to the Lácar Lake coast.
